Sticky Selections

This setting may be used when selecting text via the keyboard to keep a selection open without having to hold down the <shift> key. For example, if the user is working with the following code snippet

    

where lines 12, 13, and 14 have been selected by holding down the <shift> key and using the arrow keys to make a selection, the selection may be extended simply by navigating with the arrow keys after the <shift> key has been released.

 

Releasing a Sticky Selection

To release a sticky selection press the <esc> key. This releases the current selection and places the cursor at the end of the previous selection.
